So far chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services, Barny Frank, has been able to marshal 50 members of the US Congress to co-sponsor the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (H.R. 2267).
The bill which aims to provide a platform where online poker and other online gaming operators could legally provide wagering to US players. The bill comes with many consumer and anti-money laundering provisions which have been the chief complaint of those who oppose online gambling.
This news comes on the heels of the Poker Player’s Alliance’s Poker Week in which they lobbied lawmakers and even hosted poker events with members of congress in an effort to sway them over to supporting the bill.
